If i have control over the video either by editing it myself or by asking the party that delivers the video, i always ask for extra time at the end of the video and screenshots of start and endframe. That way your totally flexible to get it working in any of the mentioned ways. Pausing somewhere at the end and showing an image. Or waiting for the end and then show the endimage. When there is audio in the video you can fadeout the audio (and video) when needed. A bit trickier to get right but possible with some of the Javascript libraries  mentioned in other post about audio. Also when you use Mediaplayer.js you can have total control over video and audio. With much more control then when using it as is in Lectora. Fading audio and video, speeding audio and video up or down and more like that.
