Me, me, me! I’m going 🙂
Wow
This is awsome. Would love to attend. Work commitments may not allow. Will there be available material after the conference for me to bring myself up to speed with what went on?
Great Thanks
We’ll post recap blog posts.
Looking forward to it, have not been to an LUC in a few years! What have I missed?… why the ‘flying pigs’ on the LUC2017 web page 🙂

I am now going. Would not miss it for anything.
This post has received 2 votes up.Yes! Someone finally asked about the flying pigs!
One of Cincinnati’s nicknames in the past has been “Porkopolis” because the pig industry was really big here. In the 1840s Cincinnati was the world leader in pork processing. For Cincy’s 200th birthday, the city decided to build a park on the riverfront (the beginnings of the entertainment district that is The Banks now!) and they commissioned a statue because obviously, you have to have a statue for your 200th birthday… To pay homage to Cincinnati’s reign as Porkopolis, the artist included in his sculpture four 3-foot-high bronze pigs, with wings. They appeared to be blasting out of 30-foot-tall riverboat smokestacks.
The pig statue ended up being quite controversial (some people thought the choice of pigs was insulting), but it has endured and flying pigs have become an iconic image for Cincinnati. We named our marathon after it, the city did a big public art project with pig statues all over downtown (you’ll be able to see some when you come to the LUC), and of course, you can get yourself a flying pig keychain pretty much anywhere in Cincy.
Since our theme for the LUC is Mission: Possible we thought the flying pig imagery tied in nicely because people always say “when pigs fly” about something that is impossible, but the LUC is all about finding the possibility that really exists–like a flying pig 🙂
Also…pigs are adorable.
