OK… could not help myself. Brought down a slightly newer version of jquery and published Darrel’s solution. Worked just great. I will try Sergey’s solution when I get a chance.

Many thanks to all three of you. You have made my evening (and probably my next few months too).

    gnight again

    Hello again,

    Problem solved.

For what it’s worth, here is the solution to the chiming/bell/clanging/beeping (actually not a real beep) etc… 🙂

No… it was not Math’s wife’s phone, nor my wife’s…

This happens when the name you give to a page/section or whatever (in the left-hand pane) contains (presumably) unauthorized characters (such as punctuation e.g. a dash is not ok but an underscore is ok).

    cheers

The title still runs but when you are editing it then the annoying noise occurs.

Hmmm… maybe I should immerse myself in a reading of the manual. I wonder if it is in there.

I think I may have solved it.

I created an Action Group containing the necessary actions (including the starting delays) then called that from the video event.

    Sorry to have bothered everyone.

    Cheers

I think that looks genial Math! I was not aware that you could change media files like that. It does mean that I can use OnDonePlaying which, of course, is much more precise than the delays I put in and less troublesome.

I will experiment a bit more and report back.

    Thank you so much!

    Hi Amanda

That sounds like such an  intriguing idea. I would never have thought of that.

I may try it but actually have solved my problem in a different way, by simply downloading text information from a database into one or more Lectora variables which are then processed in Javascript and through a series of run JS actions or whatever. This will allow me to have a consistent user interface with the ability to vary content and with no interference with the Lectora files themselves.

Actually, I do have another question for the community related to the above but will probably start another thread.

Thank you (and my other guardian angels) for spending time to help me with this issue 🙂

Solved it actually – had to place the script into a html extension at the top of the title. Only way it could be found by the onclick in the calling link.

I hope this does not disrupt the thread too much but I was intrigued (and found ingenious) @theav-ator‘s solution of dropping someone else’s flash files into Lectora and publishing as SCORM. How would you actually do that? How would you pass variables etc.? Sounds interesting.

Thanks and apologies for this new direction.

    Hello… just following up.

Sergey is right that OnDone does not always work. The way I fixed it was to modify the recording slightly and resave it as MP3 (actually using the Lectora editor) and that seemed to do the trick (at least this time). Hope that helps others.

I think I may have it solved 🙁

I needed to install the flash plugin etc… Have not checked everything but FF is now working locally – sorry for not thinking of this earlier.

    cheers
