We just received a late submission!

New Employee Orientation” by Snickers M.

This course is a great example of how to cover a classic, and often mandatory, topic. Snickers guides new hires through all those very important details like HR forms, where the treat cupboard is, and more.

Yes! Someone finally asked about the flying pigs!

One of Cincinnati’s nicknames in the past has been “Porkopolis” because the pig industry was really big here. In the 1840s Cincinnati was the world leader in pork processing. For Cincy’s 200th birthday, the city decided to build a park on the riverfront (the beginnings of the entertainment district that is The Banks now!) and they commissioned a statue because obviously, you have to have a statue for your 200th birthday… To pay homage to Cincinnati’s reign as Porkopolis, the artist included in his sculpture four 3-foot-high bronze pigs, with wings. They appeared to be blasting out of 30-foot-tall riverboat smokestacks.

The pig statue ended up being quite controversial (some people thought the choice of pigs was insulting), but it has endured and flying pigs have become an iconic image for Cincinnati. We named our marathon after it, the city did a big public art project with pig statues all over downtown (you’ll be able to see some when you come to the LUC), and of course, you can get yourself a flying pig keychain pretty much anywhere in Cincy.

Since our theme for the LUC is Mission: Possible we thought the flying pig imagery tied in nicely because people always say “when pigs fly” about something that is impossible, but the LUC is all about finding the possibility that really exists–like a flying pig 🙂

    Also…pigs are adorable.

I think that all future Inspiration Wednesday webinars should include pictures of Shamrock, the dog from the course used in our awesome Lectora training classes. Trivantis Community, speak now or forever hold your peace!

    🙂

Meeeeeeeee. You’ll see my shining face at the registration desk and in all the coolest sessions.

What are the coolest sessions, you ask? Well, all of them really. It’s going to be tough to decide which to attend. Take a look at the session list and you’ll see what I mean: http://trivantis.com/luc-2016-schedule

I need help! @christie-wroten and I are debating lunch menus for LUC 2017!

    Would you rather have…

    1. A build your own taco bar?
    2. A build your own salad and baked potato bar?

Reply to this post and let us know what you want to see for lunch. And stay tuned for the great snack break debate!
